    1. Removing scars is usually done to improve patient appearance (what is considered a cosmetic procedure) or performed to improve the patient functioning (when the scar formation takes influence on the natural movement of muscles). In any of both cases it is crucial to choose a good specialist that will guide you through the process.

    1. There are a variety of treatments available that will not eliminate the scar altogether but will make it less visible. Surgery is the most effective with atrophic scars but laser therapy yields better results with hypertrophic scars. If a wound is recent sometimes your doctor will use injections of Triamcinolone, in order to prevent the build-up of collagen that generates the scar tissue. It not only prevents the formation of collagen, it stimulates its reabsorption.

  5. I feel embarrassed all my life. I don't want anybody to see my legs, and I cannot even enjoy summers at all. It really frustrates me. I always ask people "What could be the best treatment for scar"? Then I finally found it. It requires more than scar removal cream, the best formula is patience!:)

  6. What Are The Types of Scars?

    ReplyDelete
  7. These are several different types of scars including:

Keloid scars. These scars are the result of an overly aggressive healing process. These scars extend beyond the original injury. Over time, a keloid scar may affect mobility. Possible treatments include surgical removal, or injections with steroids. Smaller keloids can be treated using cryotherapy (freezing therapy using liquid nitrogen). You can also prevent keloid formation by using pressure treatment or gel pads with silicone when you sustain an injury. Keloid scars most often occur in Blacks.
Contracture scars. If your skin has been burned, you may have a contracture scar, which causes tightening of skin that can impair your ability to move; additionally, this type of scar may go deeper to affect muscles and nerves.
Hypertrophic scars. Raised and red scars that are similar to keloids, but do not breach the boundaries of the injury site. Possible treatments can include injections of steroids to reduce inflammation.
Acne scars. If you've had severe acne, you probably have the scars to prove it. There are many types of acne scars, ranging from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance. Possible treatments will depend on the types of acne scars you have.

  8. Just saying hi and try for this post.

  9. I have a 1-foot-long red scar on the left side of my thigh due to a total hip replacement done after a failed "hip pinning" surgery for a fracture to my femoral neck bone. Both surgeries were done in less than a year, and I wonder if that's why the scar is so prominent and still painful even though it has now been a year since the THR.

Also, I am Caucasian and my skin is very light. I have never tanned in my life and actually got 2nd degree sunburn in my teens from being out in the sun too long.

Can you do any articles, or have you done any articles, on how long to wait before having surgery for a very bad scar? Are there some scars for which surgery won't work? What are the risks if the scar is very large? While mine is long, at its widest it's no more than 1/2-inch. Is it even worth it? What are the pros and cons?

I'd love to see more articles about that, and you seem to be the expert. I can tell your information is thorough and that you have done a lot of research.

    Kudos!

  10. Personally, I've underwent a photofacial Toronto treatment in order to get rid of the scars! I had a really great doctor, who explained me all the aspects and it was okay.
I didn't feel pain and I've got through it really well! I will try it once again if I will need it! I'm very satisfied!
